Monday Weather Discussion

Good morning. It was a nice fall weekend for the most part as chilly air worked its way into our region. Temperatures will moderate slightly this week into the mid 60's but nothing to write home about. The trough that has been responsible for this chilly and in some cases unsettled weather (Saturday) will slowly dissipate over our area this week.

As it does so a few disturbances will work their way toward our area by the middle of the week bringing some light precipitation possible..

Image above is Tuesday night into Wednesday. We may have one more disturbance effect us on Friday, but right now I say its equal chances for a miss as we will have some high pressure off shore..

To put the temps in context, here are the temp departures from normal for the 0-5 day peroid..

Slightly below normal for our area but these temps will moderate more as some high pressure ridging works its way into our area for the after this week..

In fact I think October for the most part ends up being a slightly above normal month for temperatures. Around the 15th we may see some unsettled weather but I think no big changes in the weather pattern till the last week of October. In the meantime, most of the colder weather should be focused on the central and western part of the country. The models are hinting at that by showing a trough in the jet stream to our west with more ridging on the east. This basically means warmer and quieter conditions overall for our area...

More in the days to come.
